Barack Obama has won a second term as US President after beating Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
The Democrat claimed victory via Twitter after what turned out to be a relatively comfortable election night which saw him clinch many of the crunch swing states.
Mr Obama wrote on Twitter: “This happened
because of you. Thank you.”
He added: “We’re all in this together. That’s how we campaigned and that’s who we are. Thank you.”
And in a third post, he said simply: “Four more years” and posted a picture of him hugging his wife Michelle.
