THE Ferdinand brothers are now ready to shake hands with John Terry and Ashley Cole before Premier League games.
Manchester United’s Rio and QPR’s Anton last night said they were drawing a line under the bitter war with Terry and Cole. The pre-match handshakes could
start this Sunday with Rio due to face Cole as United play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The pair fell out over Cole’s support for Terry when the Blues skipper was accused of racially abusing Anton.
Although Terry was cleared in court, he was later found guilty by an FA commission and banned for four games and fined £220,000.
Rio was furious with Terry for dragging his brother through court and also believed the punishment from the FA was too lenient. But Rio was also fined £45,000 for appearing to endorse a twitter comment that said Cole was a ‘choc ice’ — implying he was black on the outside, white on the inside.
Meanwhile, Cole was heavily criticised by the FA commission as they felt he had altered his evidence to strengthen Terry’s case. Anton refused to shake hands with both Terry and Cole when QPR played Chelsea recently.
Rio will not have to face Terry this weekend as the Blues skipper is serving the second game of his suspension.
