‘Dos for flawless and versatile makeup’

1. Skincare
There’s no point trying to enhance a canvas if the canvas is not taken care of. Please take care of your skin. Find your skin type and get the products that cater to that skin type. Contrary to popular belief, everyone needs moisturizer, even people with oily skin. The key is to find the right kind of moisturizer for whatever your skin type may be. Serums and masks are also a great help in making your skin look its best.
2. Foundation
After skincare, foundation is the most important makeup item; you can spend 45 minutes getting your
eye shadow and lipstick to look impeccable, but if your foundation is two shades lighter than your skin-tone or caked on, no one will be focusing on your eyes. Get properly shade-matched then ask for a sample, use the sample for a few days to make sure your skin has no adverse reactions, then purchase. Remember to buff the foundation into your skin and to carry it down the neck, into the hairline and blended into the ears as well.
3. Brushes
Investing in brushes will make your makeup application more flawless, sanitary and undetectable. They are available in a variety of price ranges, from the drugstore brands to the luxury brands. If you do purchase brushes, remember to get a makeup brush cleaner to sanitize them after every use.
4. Neutral Eyes
One of the most versatile looks, in my opinion, is a neutral eye, which consist of subtle and warm shades of browns. It can be paired up with gloss or a neutral lip for a work appropriate look, and with a bold lip for a night time look
5. Eyebrows
Having groomed and sculpted eyebrows is a great way to make it look like you’ve spent a lot of time on your makeup without actually having to. I always thread mine (yes I know it’s painful but beauty is pain). Eyebrows frame the face, so leaving them undone will make you look ‘undone’. A tip to remember is to use an eyebrow pencil or shadow that is about two shades lighter than your actual eyebrow hair; NEVER EVER use a black, red, or purple pencil on your eyebrows. Also remember to brush through them after filling them in lightly, and for extra definition, outline them with a concealer.
