Imprisoned former Governor James Onafefe Ibori of Delta State today bought a full-page advert in a Nigerian newspaper to congratulate his peer, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, on his
60th birthday. Mr. Alamieyeseigha was a former governor of Bayelsa State.

‘Old number plates invalid by Sept 30, 2013’

The Federal Road Safety Commission has warned that old number plates will become invalid by September 30, 2013.

Some months ago, the commission introduced new number plates which will replace the old ones.

AGAIN, yet-to-be identified terrorists, on Wednesday night, invaded Madauchi village in Southern Kaduna, killing five peasants, including a pregnant woman.

Newsmen were told that the terrorists, suspected to be on a revenge mission, launched the attack on the village, in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of the State.

Grandfather gets first class in UI

Ibadan – A grandfather, Mr Aderemi Alli, was among the 21 first class graduates produced by the University of Ibadan (UI) at its convocation on Thursday in Ibadan.

The university graduated a total of 1,582 students for the 2011/2012 academic session with 243 graduating in Second Class (Upper Division) and 920, Second Class (Lower Division). A total of 135 of the students graduated with Third Class and 203 Pass.

Indian doctors fly to Nigeria for polio surgeries

A team of 24 doctors and volunteers will soon fly from Mumbai on a 10-day mission to Abuja in Nigeria, one of the three countries where polio remains to be eradicated, to conduct surgeries to correct deformities arising from polio. The other two countries are Pakistan and Afghanistan.
